The True Halls Spirit has been in existence before our Football Club formed in 1919 - the 'Halls' name carries into the 19th Century and has been deeply embedded in Dartford and Kent history ever since.
The True Halls Spirit has evolved over our 95 years in football history, and none more so since the introduction of mini-soccer and youth football in the 21st century.
A club ethos explains what a club stands for, where it wants to be and how it will get there. It’s a club’s reason for being, and it’s what all the officials should stand by. A set of values adds to that, and gives focus to how the club runs and brings together everyone in the same spirit, the True Halls Spirit.
Positiveness – we believe players respond much more readily to a positive learning environment, led by a coach who is pleased to be there and can instill a ‘can do’ attitude.
Enthusiasm – since enjoyment is the first aim of every player, all players - as well as the coach - must ensure they are maximally involved, have fun and learn from the experience. The players themselves must take responsibility for this alongside their leader.
Leadership – as role models our coaches and officials have to ensure that the example we set is worthy of emulation. The coach is a very influential person, particularly in the lives of young players, and we therefore take the responsibility seriously.
Empowerment – giving players the confidence to make decisions under pressure is the key to a good Halls team. To achieve this, the coach must first give his players the knowledge and the opportunity to practise decision making without fear of admonishment, and then, with Positiveness, Enthusiam and good Leadership, the True Halls Spirit is captured!
