Halls 1st XI v Halls Youth
From the 1st Team spy
The game started rapid tonight, with both teams flying around the pitch with such a quick early pace set in this game. It was end to end for long spells early on, but Lakey wiggled his way into the box and was tripped for a pen.
1-0 1st Team - converted by Christon, 20 mins.
With 35 minutes on the clock, U18s Billy Davis shot down the wing, jinxing around two men and sending a spinning, looping ball into the box....and toward and under the cross-bar...
1-1 straight in from the cross. Well done Billy! 35 mins.
It was quickly 2-1, when Chris Vowels latched onto a loose ball after Dan Cheeney in the u18s goal had saved, but it fell nice for Vowelsy who drilled it into the back of the net. 40th min.
The first 10 minutes of the second half was a huge improvement for the seniors, keeping the ball really well and patiently looking to build up through our lines... it was neat and we set a much better tempo from the start.
Some changes midway for the us refreshed the team as we headed into the final quarter of the game, and chances were now opening up as the Youth boys tired with no subs available.
Robbie converted a chance for 3-1 in the 70th minute, and he could of had 2 or 3 more to his tally with a series of really good chances. Vowelsy came close to another, as did Christon, new boy Ayo, and Lakey.
And the football was good too going into the last 10 minutes with the seniors dominating the ball and using their best experience to see the game well through to full time.
Good game all round. Well done to the U18s, you set a fantastic tempo tonight and worked the seniors hard all the way to the lights cutting out...
Next time we play - bigger pitch, better game, and 3 subs each! Bring it on
Alex Carter scooped the MOM, with Lee, Christon, Vano and Starky also getting good shout-outs.
